Our Heritage
 Oakwood Baptist Church was organized in 1906, with thirteen charter members at the Cox Mill Hall in Anderson, South Carolina. Rev. H.C. Martin was the first pastor, serving until 1909. From 1918 to the present, Oakwood Baptist has had only five pastors. Dr. E.C. White served for an astounding time of 44 years from 1918 to 1962. Following Dr. White was Dr. J. Robert Martin who served from 1962 to 1973. Dr. Neal Prock served from 1973 to 1981. Dr. Russell W. Rice served as pastor from 1981 to 1999, and our current pastor, Rev. Brent D. Armstrong, has been faithfully serving the members of Oakwood since 2001.
 Oakwood moved from its original location on Rogers Street to its current location in 1980. The E.C. White Building was completed in 1988, and the new lobby addition was opened in October 2006, in time for our 100th Year Anniversary Celebration!

 Other Ministries
 Since 1970, Oakwood Christian School hasbeen assisting the home in the responsibility of training the child in a Christ-centered philosophy of life. Oakwood Christian School desires to graduate young men and women who are academically sound, patriotic, socially refined, and so Biblically knowledgeable that they will live their lives based on Biblical principles and, in so doing, discover and do God's will for their lives.
Oakwood Christian School provides education for grades K-4 through 12th, and does not discriminate on the basis of race or national origin.

 The philosophy of Oakwood Preschool is Christ-centered and positive. The entire program is based on the Word of God. The purpose of the Preschool is to have a Godly impact on the children in our care and their parents. This can be done through teaching, Biblical discipline, and Godly people working and playing with the children in our care. Each Preschool worker is expected to utilize Biblical principles and discipline when dealing with the children in her care. (Ephesians 6:6-10)
Oakwood Preschool serves children six weeks old to three years old.

Independent Baptist 
The Spanish ministry of Oakwood Baptist Church began out of a desire and need to reach the growing Hispanic population in Anderson. The church has grown to an average of 80 in attendance each Sunday.
